Hello rodeo fans and contestants,

The next season has started. I am proud to represent Michigan as the 2009-2010 Miss
Michigan High School Rodeo queen. My name is Amanda-Jo Johnson. I will be a junior
at Marion Public schools. I compete in team roping, breakaway roping, goat tying, pole
bending, and barrel racing.

Within the High School rodeo we are all a Family. Michigan is a small association so we
are all one big family. If anyone needs help with anything there is always help that is given.

We are all competing for one thing - a state title and a spot to compete at the national
level. There are four contestants in each event that travels the long distance to the national
high school rodeo finals at the end of the year.

We have a number of rodeos all over the state of Michigan. At each rodeo you are
competing for year end points that will total up at the state finals and tell you who are the
champs. At each rodeo we have barrel racing, pole bending, team roping, goat tying,
breakaway roping, calf roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, bareback, and bull riding.
We have a Wrangler division which is 6-8 grade students and a senior division which is
9-12 grades.

High School Rodeo is one of the funniest things to do. You meet nice people and have the
time of your life. We have many non-rodeo activities too, like membership meetings, bon
fires at two day rodeos and cowboy prom. You get to know everyone and have fun. So I
hope to see you out in the arena soon.
