Welcome to the Michigan High School Rodeo Association Web Site.

My name is Emily Oplinger, and this year I'm your 2007-2008 MHSRA President.

I have been an MHSRA member for the past 3 years and during that time this association has made me realize, learn, fight and speak my mind. It has made me so much better at what I do. We have made hospital visits, helped at special kids rodeos, organized events and even put on our own Cowboy Prom. You learn something new at every rodeo even when you are President.

We've all met so many new friends in this sport. With 39 different states, 5 Canadian Provinces and the country of Australia the possibilities are enormous. The contestants and they families are so nice and such a joy to meet and talk with.

State Finals are great, but the biggest thrill and accomplishment is making it to the National High SchoolRodeo Finals, which by the way is in Farmington, New Mexico this year. It's a haul for some but fact that your going to the biggest rodeo in the world, with over 1,500 contestants really makes it worth it in the end.

Keeping the Western Heritage way of Life alive and well in Michigan is just one of the many goals in our association.

So what do ya think?... Sounds Great Huh! So come and join our rodeo family, you won't regret being apart of this association. You won't believe it but here we cheer for every contestant no matter how they may have placed! We truly are one big family having fun keeping the Western Heritage beating strong!
